News on weekly rest
Law no. 97/2015 for the amendment of art. 137 par. (1) of Law no. 53/2003 – Labour Code was published within the Official Gazette no. 316/2015 dated May 8, 2015.
According to the new legal provisions, art. 137 par. (1) of Law no. 53/2003 – Labour Code will be amended and will have the following content: “The weekly rest is of 48 consecutive hours, as a rule on Saturday and Sunday.”. In its former wording, art. 137 par. (1) provided that “The weekly rest will be awarded in two consecutive days, as a rule on Saturday and Sunday”.
