The First Significant Legal Guide for 2013: NNDKP Ranked First by IFLR 1000 in All Practice Areas Researched in Romania

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen continues to lead in international legal rankings, having been ranked first in all areas researched in Romania – Banking and Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions and Project Finance – by the international legal guide IFLR 1000 (International Financial Law Review 1000), published by Euromoney Legal Media Group.

This is the second consecutive year when Euromoney recognizes NNDKP, after granting the firm “Best Firm in Romania” award, with respect to gender diversity, at the “European Women in Business Law 2012” gala hosted by this prestigious editorial group in London. NNDKP was one of the very few law firms nominated by Euromoney in the categories “Best environment for women practicing business law” and “Best initiative in gender diversity”, for the values that define its recruitment and selection programs, its support and promotion of talented lawyers, as well as its programs dedicated to law students.

Another reference publication on the legal market, Chambers Europe, designated NNDKP for the second time in the past four years as the “Law Firm of the Year in Romania”, a premiere on the local legal market. NNDKP also led in the rankings published by Chambers Global and Europe in 2012, remaining the best ranked law firm in Romania by this institution.

In addition, this year’s annual supplements of certain prestigious niche specialized reviews – Global Arbitration Review and Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) – recognized NNDKP’s merits in arbitration and IP.

Thus, NNDKP is the only law firm in Romania included by Global Arbitration Review’s GAR 100 ranking, for the second consecutive year, in the top of the best law firms involved in international arbitrations. According to Global Arbitration Review, NNDKP is involved in 30 arbitration proceedings, and the value of the claims amounts to EUR 1 billion.

The firm’s intellectual property division (NNDKP IP) is the best ranked specialized division affiliated to a law firm in Romania, according to the Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) top. NNDKP IP was ranked first in the area of patent, trademark and copyright litigation; second in the area of patent prosecution and ranked third in the area of trademark prosecution.

NNDKP Designated “Best Firm in Romania” by Euromoney

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen was granted, for the second consecutive year, the “Best Firm in Romania” award for gender diversity during the “European Women in Business Law 2012” gala, organized in London by the prestigious international publishing house Euromoney Legal Media Group.

This distinction comes only a short time after NNDKP was designated “Law Firm of the Year in Romania” by the renowned legal guide Chambers Europe.

“NNDKP’s culture identifies balance, diversity and harmony with natural laws as enhancers of professional performance and rules out prejudice of any kind. We invested considerable time and financial resources to pursue our vision, and the two highly prestigious awards confirm that we are on the right path”, believes Senior Partner Adriana Gaspar, who represented NNDKP at the Euromoney award ceremony.

NNDKP was one of only a few national law firms nominated by Euromoney in the categories “Best national firm for women in business law” and “Best gender diversity initiative by national firm”, for the values promoted by the firm, in all of its five offices, through the recruitment, selection, professional training programs, the support and promotion of talented lawyers and law students.

With a ratio between female and male of 33 to 15 at partner and senior associate level, of 13 to 3 at partner level and of 79 to 35 among all lawyers, NNDKP has received numerous distinctions from the most reputed international research institutes (Euromoney Legal Media Group, Chambers & Partners, Legalease).

Law firms were acknowledged at the “European Women in Business Law Awards 2012” gala for promoting gender diversity in the field of business law, but also for launching initiatives for the support and promotion of talents and the balance between the personal and the professional life. The event gathered over 200 women from the most renowned national and international law firms across Europe, among which Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Baker & McKenzie, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Linklaters, Slaughter and May, Norton Rose, Eversheds, etc.

A First on the Romanian Legal Market: Chambers Europe Awards NNDKP “Law Firm of the Year in Romania” for the Second Time

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen was designated for the second time “Law Firm of the Year in Romania” by one of the most prestigious legal publications, Chambers & Partners. At the Chambers Europe award ceremony, which took place last night in Amsterdam before the leading European law firms, Adriana Gaspar, senior partner, accepted on behalf of NNDKP the award for the best law firm in Romania.

This distinction reflects the appreciation and respect expressed by NNDKP’s clients and competitors – the source for Chambers’ rankings. This is the second time we are recognized by this institution for our professional excellence and last year we received the award for the highest standard of services in Romania. I am very pleased to see that my colleagues’ expertise, ethics and professionalism are once again rewarded”, declared Adriana Gaspar after the award ceremony.

This year NNDKP stands out once again in the Chambers Europe hierarchy, maintaining its position as a leading law firm in Romania. NNDKP was ranked first in the following practice areas: banking and finance; corporate/M&A; litigation; labor law; energy and natural resources; intellectual property; PPP projects; real estate transactions; restructuring/insolvency and fiscal consultancy. The firm was ranked second in the field of competition law.

In 2011 and 2012, NNDKP was the only law firm in Romania ranked first by three other international legal guides – The European Legal 500, IFLR 1000 and Chambers Global – in all areas researched in Romania.

NNDKP Awarded for Its Vast Trademark and Patent Expertise

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen was awarded the distinction for the most comprehensive expertise in the field of trademarks and patents at the intellectual property gala organized by Finmedia. This honor was granted for the consolidation of one of the strongest teams of lawyers and advisors in industrial property and for assisting a number of major local and international players on specific trademark and patent issues.

“Recognized on the market as one of the most powerful intellectual property divisions, the practice has had remarkable achievements over the past years, among which top tier rankings in the international specialized publications, the team consolidation, even during the recession period, as well as the participation in highly complex projects, such as Bitdefender’s re-branding”, states Ana-Maria Baciu, Partner and head of the intellectual property practice.

The event, which took place one day before the World Intellectual Property Day, celebrated since 2001 and established by the World Intellectual Property Organization, was attended by over 100 lawyers, advisors and intellectual property professionals.

According to the 2012 classifications of Managing Intellectual Property (MIP), one of the most reputable specialized international publications, NNDKP’s intellectual property practice was ranked first in the field of litigation regarding patents, trademarks and copyrights, second in the area of procedures for obtaining patents and third in that of procedures for obtaining registered trademarks.

Another international publication in the field, World Trademark Review, specialized in analyses, research and comments in the field of trademarks, also ranked the firm’s IP practice first in the 2011 classification.

NNDKP’s intellectual property practice was also ranked first according to Chambers Europe, one of the most important international legal guides, in all five editions published from the launching of the European version of the publication.

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen is the only law firm in Romania ranked first by this year’s edition of The European Legal 500 in all practice areas that the prestigious publication researched in our jurisdiction.

Thus, NNDKP was ranked first this year as well, in the following practice areas: Banking, Finance and Capital markets; Corporate/M&A; Dispute Resolution; Energy and Natural Resources; IT, Telecoms and Media; PPP and Procurement; Real Estate.

In 2012 NNDKP has dominated the international legal rankings and was the only law firm in Romania ranked first in all practice areas also by Chambers & Partners, the global edition, being the sole firm ranked as such for nine consecutive years, and IFLR 1000.

The European Legal 500 annually ranks the leading international and local firms offering advice on the above mentioned practice areas based on client interviews, discussions with law firms’ partners and their competitors, being acknowledged worldwide as one of the milestone publications for the legal profession.

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen Is Ranked First by Chambers Global for the Ninth Consecutive Year

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen was ranked first, for the ninth consecutive year, by Chambers and Partners, the global edition (Chambers Global), in all practice areas the publication researched in Romania. NNDKP, the only law firm in Romania to have achieved this performance, was ranked first in Banking and Finance; Corporate/M&A; Insolvency/Restructuring and Dispute Resolution.

In 2012 NNDKP was the only Romanian law firm ranked as first tier by another publication in the field, IFLR 1000, in all practice areas researched in our country: Banking, Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Project Finance.

Recently, the firm’s Intellectual Property Division announced that, according to the 2012 rankings of Managing Intellectual Property, a specialized magazine in the field, it remained the best ranked IP division affiliated to a Romanian law firm.

NNDKP has been, over the past years, the best ranked law firm in Romania by some of the most reputed international legal publications, such as Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, The European Legal 500 and IFLR 1000.

Chambers & Partners is a benchmark on the international legal market, which draws up annually a ranking of the best law firms in a jurisdiction. The assessments and rankings are based on extensive discussions and interviews with the clients and the law firms. The researches conducted by the Chambers Global’s experts cover all major jurisdictions in the world including Romania. The rankings consider criteria such as the quality of legal service, client service, project management and problem solving abilities.

NNDKP Is the Only Romanian Firm Listed in the Rankings Made by the Famous Global Arbitration Review

NNDKP is the only Romanian law firm which was included by the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) in the 2012 GAR top which ranked the best law firms involved in international arbitration proceedings. This is the second consecutive year in which NNDKP was present in this listing.

According to the publication Global Arbitration Review, NNDKP is involved in 30 arbitration proceedings, the claims disputed in these proceedings amounting to 1 billion Euros.

In association with Freshfields, NNDKP provided legal assistance to the Romanian government in the proceeding initiated before ICSID by European Food. Among the clients represented in arbitration proceedings by the NNDKP lawyers, we can mention the energy producer Electrocentrale Bucureşti, the Bluehouse Capital investment fund, the Dutch advisory services company VAPRO and Bechtel.

In addition to the long activity carried out before ICSID, GAR 100 also noted that NNDKP provided legal assistance to Bechtel, in association with Hogan Lovells, in the proceeding initiated against CNADNR, in an arbitration case carried out before ICC. Furthermore, NNDKP has assisted Asmita Gardens in the proceedings initiated in connection with a FIDIC construction contract. In another dispute which also had as subject matter a FIDIC construction contract, NNDKP has successfully represented Star Project Development in an arbitration carried out before ICC against All Plan Construction.

Global Arbitration Review (GAR) covers the field of international arbitration throughout the world and is a leader of specialized publications in this area.

NNDKP IP Is the Best Specialized Division in Romania According to International Rankings in the Field

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen Intellectual Property Counseling announced that it continues to be the best ranked specialized division affiliated to a law firm in Romania, pursuant to the 2012 rankings issued by the publication Managing Intellectual Property (MIP).

Managing Intellectual Property, one of the most prominent international publications in the field of intellectual property, conducts yearly surveys among intellectual property agencies and specialized divisions within law firms, as well as among clients and publishes the results ranking firms in the most important jurisdictions worldwide, including Romania.

NNDKP IP was ranked first in Managing Intellectual Property’s classification published in 2012 in the field of litigation regarding patents, trademarks and copyright, second in the area of procedures for obtaining patents and third in the area regarding the procedures for obtaining trademarks.

NNDKP is one of the few law firms on the Romanian market with an intellectual property division that achieved the performance of being top-ranked in all IP expertise fields included in the surveys carried out by MIP.

Another international publication in the field, World Trademark Review, specialized in analysis, research and commentary in the area of trademarks, ranked NNDKP as first in the 2011 classification, stating that: “The services provided by the firm in the field of commercial trademarks are comprehensive and the attorneys provide consultancy services with respect to all matters related to the acquisition, protection, administration, commercialization of trademarks and litigation actions relevant to trademarks. NNDKP IP was also ranked first in the classifications published by Chambers Europe, one of the most important international legal guides, in all five editions issued since the publication of its first European version.
