News on per diem

Order no. 60 of the ministry of public finances for updating the amount of per diem, and also the amount of the accommodation expenses compensation for the delegated personnel if they do not benefit from accommodation in tourist receiving units, provided in the appendix to the Government Decision no. 1.860/2006 regarding the rights and obligations of public authorities and institutions personnel during secondment or delegation in another locality, and also in case of travelling inside the locality for business purposes was published within the Official Gazette no. 68 on 27 January 2015.

According to the new provisions, the amount of per diem will be increased with 4 RON, reaching 17 RON per day.

Moreover the amount of accommodation expenses compensation for the delegated personnel that does not benefit from accommodation in tourist receiving unities provided by the Government Decision no. 1.860/2006 will be increased to 45 RON.

Although these amendments relate to the public sector personnel, the new values are of reference for the private sector as well. According to the legal tax provisions, the amounts granted within a limit of 2,5 of the per diem to the public servants according to the law, are not included in the salary incomes, are not taxable and are not included in the monthly basis of mandatory social security contributions. Thus, following these amendments, such limit will be of 42,5 RON per day.
