Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen (NNDKP) has recently initiated a new series of events, “Exclusively for Friends".
The business breakfasts on competition issues intend to address the best practices companies can use in order to increase their competitiveness on the market and at the same time avoid competition risks.
After a first edition in which the debates focused on the wide range of discretion of the competition authority in applying the maximum fine and the first referral to criminal investigation bodies for competition infringements, the second edition was an invitation to discuss the rights and obligations companies have when interacting with the Council.
“It is of utmost importance for companies to be informed of all competition risks which may arise from their conduct on the market, and balance the right to pursue their business interests with the obligation to comply with competition rules. By always addressing in an interactive and practical manner topics of interest for the companies, 'Exclusively for Friends' places its guests in the best position: that of a market player who, informed of its rights and of the most recent developments in competition area, uses the information to its competitive advantage”, considers Georgeta Harapcea, Head of NNDKP’s Competition Practice.
The interplay between national and European rules, parent liability for competition infringements, leniency applications and the attorney-client privilege were among the topics discussed with the guests, both clients as well as representatives of other companies active in various business sectors, who viewed the event as extremely interesting, interactive and useful, and were very active in suggesting topics they would like to discuss at next editions.
NNDKP also organized recently the second Bucharest edition of Lex Atelier workshop sessions, followed by two other editions in Craiova and Brasov. The debates also focused on topics of great interest during this difficult economic period, such as: the impact of debtors’ insolvency on credit institutions, business restructuring, FIDIC contracts, environmental liability, document archiving, the legal statute of foreign citizens in Romania, the negotiation of collective labour agreements, urbanism issues, fiscal audit.
