Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen announced that it was awarded the “Best Firm in Romania” prize for gender diversity, during the “European Women in Business Law 2011” gala, organized in London by the prestigious international publishing house Euromoney Legal Media Group.
NNDKP was the only firm in Romania nominated for all three main award categories: individual awards (Manuela Nestor, the only lawyer in Central and South-Eastern Europe nominated for this category, from the area of banking an financing, along with women lawyer from other “Magic Circle” firms such as Linklaters, Allen&Overy or Clifford Chance); awards by firm in relation to gender diversity (next to other “Magic Circle” firms, which were among the winners), awards by jurisdiction, a category for which NNDKP was designated as winner for Romania (and where Romania won next to some of the most prestigious law firms in large jurisdictions, such as: Arthur Cox – Irland, Van Doorne – The Netherlands, Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners – Italy, Castren & Snellman – Finland, Szecskay Attorneys at Law – Hungary, PLMJ – Portugal, Hogan Lovells – Russia, Cuatrecasas Goncalves & Pereira – Spain, Freshfields – UK etc).
The first edition of the “European Women in Business Law Awards 2011” awarded law firms which promote gender diversity in business law and was an occasion to recognize the contribution of highly-appreciated women lawyers from all the main jurisdictions in Europe. The event brought together over 200 women with exceptional careers in business law and politics. One of the special guests who attended the gala was Cherie Boot (Blair), reputed barrister and well-known human rights and gender diversity defender, Anne Fletcher (Royal Mail Compliance Director) and Constance Briscoe (the first and the only black female judge in the UK and famous best seller author). During the gala, firms from over 21 countries were awarded, while the distinctions were offered for 26 practice areas.
“NNDKP has always integrated the principle of gender diversity by creating an environment which promotes and sustains women lawyers in their profession. NNDKP’s mixed team (of the 145 lawyers and consultants, 82 are women) and the gender structure at firm level partnership (11 women hold the position of partner, out of the total of 17 partners )equally reflects the fact that our firm is a promoter of the positive model of successful female lawyer”, emphasizes Manuela Nestor, one of the NNDKP Managing Partners and Head of the Banking, Finance and Capital Markets department.
NNDKP is thus among the firms promoting gender diversity in the legal profession, being actively involved in the programs initiated at global level in support of these actions by some of the most prestigious professional associations such as Lex Mundi or World Services Group.
